1 Corinthians 13: 1 & 13

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

A letter of Advice (3F Tsang Tsz Ching)

Dear Andy,

Thank for your letter. I’m sorry to hear about your problems and I hope my advice can help you to improve your situation.

You mentioned that your parents have strict regulation to your free time. There are things you can do to make them understand you. You could try to talk to your parents how the stress makes you uncomfortable and nervous. Also, you can express your feeling and wish that you want to go out with your friends. Furthermore, they told you stop using Facebook, you might suggest to them that open an account and try to use it. Even you can add their Facebook to let them know Facebook isn’t ‘dangerous’.

You also said that you were being overweight. Why don’t you plan a schedule of the diet every day to control your energy intake? Also, remind yourself to eat more vegetables and suitable amount of protein. Moreover, I understand when you are down, you will eat snacks to express your feeling. However, it will make you become fat. You ought not to eat too much snacks. It might be a good idea for you to develop an interest. For example, learn to play an instrument or take some pictures to build self-confidence and value. Therefore, you will not think about eating snacks is the only way for you to feel happy. But be careful of the choice of your interest, you should choose healthy interest instead of bad interests such as smoking, taking drugs, etc.

Getting more exercise is good for your health, you should try it. If you are really afraid of the participating in competitions of team sports, you can try jogging. Doing more sports can produce the chemicals which are called endorphins. It can help you to feel happy. Also, try to talk to your parents you want to. If you don’t try, you can never do what you want. Therefore, be brave and active. There is always a way out.

I hope this advice is valuable. You’re not alone. Let me know how things turn not.

With best wishes,
Mr. Leung
